IELTS 9分听力 Track 12

12. Listening test 1. You will hear a recording and you will have to answer questions on what you hear. There is time for you to read instructions and questions you will have a chance to check your work. The recording will be played once only. The test is in 4 sections. Now turn to section 1. Section 1. You will hear a conversation between a real estate agency receptionist and a potential client. Before you listen you have some time to look at questions 1 to 7. Notice that an example has been done for you. This time only the conversation relating to the example will be played first.

W: Good afternoon. Money’s Michael real estate, Jenny speaking. How can I direct your call?

M: Hello, I’d like to talk to someone in your share housing area.

N: The caller says that he’d like to talk to someone in the share housing area. So you would write share housing in the form. Now let’s begin. Listen carefully to the conversation and answer questions 1 to 7.

W: Good afternoon. Money’s Michael real estate, Jenny speaking. How can I direct your call?

M: Hello, I’d like to talk to someone in your share housing area.

W: Alfred usually handles share housing, but she is out of the office at the moment. Perhaps I can help you. Would you like to register with us?

M: Yes, I am looking for a share house.

W: OK. No problem. I just need to take down some details for our records. What’s your name?

M: Daniel Berghofer. B-E-R-G-H-O-F-E-R.

W: OK. And what’s your current address and phone number?

M: My address is 7 Jason’s street, J-A-S-O-N, in Whishire. My phone number is 0732334111.

W: 073233411?

M: Triple one.

W: Oh, OK. Got it. And what about a work or mobile number?

M: Work is 0733219746.

W: 0733219746?

M: That’s right. And my mobile number is 0421999964.

W: 0421999964?

M: Mm.

W: All right. Now what kind of accommodation are you after?

M: Well, I’ve been in a unit for the past year, and I dying to get out into a place with a garden and more room to move. Ideally I’d like to move into a house. But I don’t want to spend too much on rent if I am sharing with other people. I guess the most I can afford is 200 dollars for nightly.

W: Well, it depends a lot on the area you want to live in, and how many people you are willing to share with.

M: Anyway on the south side, not more than 20 minutes from the city center would be OK. I don’t really mind which suburb as long as the house and house mate suit me. I don’t really want to share with more than 1 or 2 people.

Before you listen to the rest of the conversation you have some time to look at questions 8 to 10. Now as you listen answer questions 8 to 10.

W: OK. I think with 2 house mates we should be able to find your nice place to live within your budget. In fact I am sure we have some suitable places on our book set at the moment. Do you have any special requirements that would help us to narrow down our search belt?

M: Well, I don’t have a washing machine. And I don’t want to have to get a car to go to a laundry map all the time. So I guess the other house mates would need to have one.

W: No worries. Anything else?

M: Well, as I said earlier, I will be living in an apartment, so I am really looking forward to having a backyard for some entertainment. A deck or some kind of outdoor entertainment area is really important to me.

W: Washing machine and outdoor entertainment area. I am sure we have a couple of listings on our books that would be perfect for you. When do you want to move?

M: In about 3 weeks.

W: OK. Would you like to come in sometime this week to make with Malgret? She could take you to have a look at the houses and make the people already living there. It’s a good chance for both parties to make sure that would be comfortable for arrangement.

M: Yes, that sounds good. How about Thursday?

W: Sure. Malgret is free at 9 o’clock. Does that suit you?

M: Actually I’ve got another appointment then. Could we make it a bit later in the morning?

W: Mm. OK. Malgret’s got opening at 11 o’clock. How is that?

M: That’s great. Is there anything I need to bring?

W: References from previous landlords if you have any and some photo ID.

M: Not a problem. See you on Thursday.

W: OK, Daniel. Thanks for calling. Good-bye.

M: Bye.

That is the end of section one. You now have half a minute to check your answers. Now turn to section 2 of your listening question paper.
